Your health should be your biggest priority. Chiropractic and integrative care specialist Dr. Ann Barter says taking care of your health earlier is a huge gift. She sees a lot of people coming in who’ve put their health on the back burner for many years and think that they can get it back. From thyroid issues, infections, infertility issues in women, overall fatigue, and overall wellbeing, Dr. Barter has seen it all. As someone who had struggled with some stress and anxiety issues herself, Dr. Barter realized what some of her clients were going through. That’s what got her into Neurotransmitter Therapy and neuro-supplementation. Dr. Barter explains how neurotransmitter deficiency is causing a lot of conditions, and why it’s important to supplement our neurotransmitter and keep the gut microbiome healthy.

This episode is all about neurotransmitters! We dive deep into neurotransmitters, common causes of low dopamine levels, and what you can do about it.

Dr. Ann-Marie has always had a mind for high-level problem-solving. In her early 20’s she was introduced to chiropractic, whereas she had been very skeptical until it changed her life. The treatment was like magic – she felt new and light, like a better version of herself. She immersed herself in school, learning not only the art and science of chiropractic modalities but also functional blood chemistry analysis, nutrition, applied kinesiology, and natural remedies. She now specializes in severe functional medicine cases, helping people with issues concerning their thyroid, blood sugar, gut health, and hormone dysfunction as well as other metabolic conditions.

Show Summary:  “Neurotransmitters  are basically neuro chemicals in your body that control every aspect of it –  your digestion, muscles, mood, and are very related to anxiety, depression, sleep, and peristalsis of your gut.  They are involved in every single function of the body.”

Dopamine and Serotonin are neurotransmitters and are very powerful. Being deficient in it can make you feel exhausted, unmotivated and can cause anxiety and depression. Medical professionals see it as something critical because it can contribute to hormone dysregulation.
