How do I schedule?

You can schedule by phone (303) 652-0900 during business hours or online here.

Can I schedule online?

Yes! Go here! Please note the system will not allow you to cancel an appointment once it’s scheduled. If you need to cancel or change please call the number above or send us an email at info@altfammed.com.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes! As long as treatment does not require hands-on, physical manipulation or assessment, we offer both halfhour and one-hour appointments over our HIPAA compliant patient portal . If you are scheduling online please make sure you select “Virtual + Service”. Your access link will be provided in the confirmation email.

What does an Initial Consultation include?

Our one-hour initial appointments are meant to get an assessment of current health. They can include: health history, review of previous diagnostics, current diagnosis, medication review, health goals, potential diagnostics (as indicated), chiropractic adjustment (as indicated), potential treatment plan.

What is the difference between a regular follow-up and a one hour lab review appointment?

Our Follow Up appointments are meant for assessment and/or physical adjustments and are a half-hour long.

Our Lab Review appointments are solely meant for reviewing diagnostics and discussing treatment plan/protocol. They are an hour long because a lot of information will be exchanged. There is typically not enough time for manual therapy during a Lab Review.

What is your cancellation/reschedule policy?

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. No-show appointments will be billed the full amount of the appointment type scheduled.

If you need to cancel outside of regular business hours please login to the patient portal and cancel/reschedule there. https://my.practicebetter.io/#/signin

Same-day rescheduled appointments may be assessed a fee of $35 at the provider’s discretion.

My health insurance says they’ll reimburse me but they need certain codes/information – can you help?

Yes! Commonly referred to as a Superbill, these forms break down your visit or diagnostics by diagnosis and treatment codes. These codes are internationally recognized and can be known as ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, etc.

Generally, your insurance company will require a Superbill for each visit or lab.

LABORATORY TESTING

  • Do I need labs before my first visit?
  • What does lab work cost?
  • Will insurance cover my lab work?
  • What happens once the labs have been ordered?
  • Where do I go to get blood drawn?
  • Do you do X Rays or other imaging on-site?
Do I need labs before my first visit?

Not every patient will need diagnostic testing. Many will. We are always happy to look over previous diagnostics that are less than two years old. It is ideal that they be sent ahead of a patient’s Initial Consultation but we know that isn’t always possible.

It is not, however, required. We understand not everyone will have current diagnostics or the proper testing for diagnosis or future treatment. Your practitioner will make recommendations if necessary.

What does lab work cost?

We work with many different laboratories that offer very unique diagnostic testing and convenient options such as home collection. It is not possible to list every test and/or marker individually. If you are interested in a specific test(s) please call our office for a quote (303) 652-0900.

Will insurance cover my lab work?

That will be entirely up to your insurance company and specific plan. We are happy to provide documentation of medical necessity, or a Superbill for you to submit for reimbursement. However, your carrier will make the final determination for reimbursement.

What happens once the labs have been ordered?

For blood work you will be referred out to the appropriate blood draw location depending on the type of testing required. Routine blood work generally takes about a week to get the results back.

For other tests requiring samples such as urine, stool, saliva, etc., a kit will either be made available to you at your appointment or will be mailed to your home. If a kit is being mailed to you they generally come by USPS and are subject to regular shipping times.

All kits will include sample collection materials and instructions, as well as return shipping supplies and instructions. Samples will return to the lab by either FedEx or UPS (depending on the lab). We strongly recommend dropping the samples at the participating shipping location and retaining tracking information. DO NOT USE DROP BOXES.

Please make sure to fill out and include any paperwork included in the kit with your samples – PLEASE make sure to fill in the time(s)/date(s) of collection(s) where applicable.

We will receive the results in about 1-3 weeks depending on the test/lab.

Where do I go to get blood drawn?
  • If you have been sent home with or emailed a requisition for blood work through LabCorp go here to find a convenient location and schedule an appointment online. Remember to have your requisition and ID with you.
  • If you have received any other kit requiring a blood draw a list of participating labs will be provided
Do you do X Rays or other imaging on-site?

We do not. If you require imaging we recommend Health Images, locally in the Denver-metro area. We are happy to provide you with a requisition for imaging. Billing will be between Health Images and yourself. We are happy to provide any documentation needed if you are using your health insurance or other plan to pay for imaging services. As always, coverage/reimbursement will ultimately be made by your carrier.

SUPPLEMENTS & PROTOCOLS

  • How do I refill my supplements?
  • Can you tell me what you think about a certain brand or a specific product you don’t carry?
  • I found the same brand you recommend on Amazon for less than you charge, should I just buy there instead?
  • Can you take me off my prescription medication?
How do I refill my supplements?

You can call us during regular business hour, send us a message over the portal or email us at info@altfammed.com. We will check inventory and make arrangements for pick-up or shipping.

Please note we ship using USPS on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. You will receive tracking information from noreply@goshippo.com. Orders over $150 will receive free shipping.

Can you tell me what you think about a certain brand or a specific product you don’t carry?

We cannot give recommendations on or endorsements of nutritional supplements, herbs or nutraceuticals we do not carry. The reasons for this:

  • The marketplace is absolutely flooded with products and we can’t know the quality, the ingredient sourcing, the manufacturing processes, indications or proper dosing for everything out there. For this reason, we only carry therapeutic-grade nutritional supplementation, herbs and nutraceuticals from trusted manufacturers and brands that can trace their ingredient sources, can prove their manufacturing processes, quality test their products, and have outstanding reputations. Most of the inventory in our natural dispensary is only available through a qualified practitioner to uphold the integrity of the products and the training they require to properly recommend.
I found the same brand you recommend on Amazon for less than you charge, should I just buy there instead?

We DO NOT recommend buying supplements, herbs and/or nutraceuticals on Amazon. The reasons for this:

  • Amazon for the most part is a faceless storefront. Many of the supplement brands found there are not actually supposed to be sold on that platform, or outside of a qualified practitioner’s office, per the manufacturer’s sales agreements. Many unscrupulous sellers still do, despite the prohibitions.
  • Unscrupulous sellers also: sell expired products, sell mislabeled/relabeled counterfeit products, and cannot/will not be able to advise on proper dosing and indications/contraindications.
Can you take me off my prescription medication?

Only your prescribing practitioner can make changes to your prescription medication(s). There are many alternative/natural/holistic remedies for many different chronic conditions. We are happy to work with your prescribing practitioner to make the changes you are seeking so they are safe and healthy.
